We’re thirty days into our 42-day sprint to General Release, and the thing I’m most proud of isn’t a single feature—it’s the feeling the portal gives you: calm, clarity, and momentum. Enter your address, see what’s possible, personalise if you like, save your quote without an account, come back when you’re ready. No drama. No chasing screenshots across your camera roll.
Under the bonnet, there’s a lot going on—templates, compliance logic, data pipelines, observability, real-time updates—but the goal never changes: make electrification feel simple for households and make it scale for partners.
The journey so far
- A front door that welcomes, not tests you.
We shipped responsive consumer portal templates (mobile → tablet → desktop) that partners can co-brand in days, not months. The new landing experience leads with a single job: check my address. - Numbers you can trust.
The savings calculator plugs into best-practice assumptions and VDO/DMO logic. Add usage or a bill and the maths updates instantly. No form marathons. No guesswork. - A memory that helps you decide.
History keeps every search and saved quote in one place, so you pick up exactly where you left off. Trust starts with context. - An engine for partners.
Behind the scenes, our PIM + pricebook powers bundles (solar + battery + plans + upgrades), a retailer/CP dashboard organises the funnel, and WebSocket groundwork paves the way for live UI updates.
The hard bits
- Compliance is messy.
VDO/DMO rules aren’t a single toggle. We built calculation and plan-compliance checks into the sync workflow, so “transparent” isn’t a claim—it’s a contract. - Data is never perfect.
Our team filled gaps across CEC datasheets, logos, and specifications, pushing the clean set to cloud and tightening ingestion. When the inputs improve, so do the recommendations. - Speed without breaking things.
We wired Phoenix for AI observability, Firebase for analytics, Grafana for dashboards, BetterAuth for sign-in, and deployment alerts for hygiene. Velocity is great; measured velocity is better. - Style at scale.
Extracting and standardising styles for rapid co-branding meant solving real constraints (e.g., puppeteer-free style capture). The payoff: partners get a beautiful front end with almost no lift.
What the AI is really doing here
It’s not just a buzzword. AI is working in the boring, essential places:
- Helping with bill extraction and data normalisation so personalisation isn’t a manual slog.
- Powering the observability loop (what changed, did it help, what should we ship next).
- Assisting with style extraction and component generation so partners don’t start from a blank canvas.
AI is not replacing decisions; it’s smoothing the path to good ones.
What’s next before GR
- Final polish on saved plans & solar variants
- End-to-end flow tightening (address → eligibility → personalise → save → compare → hand-off)
- Partner demos, docs, and a small flagship onboarding cohort
An invitation (and a promise)
If you’re a retailer or channel partner, we’re opening a few co-branded portal slots ahead of General Release. You’ll get:
- Templates and components themed to your brand
- A savings calculator with transparent assumptions
- A dashboard that shows what’s working—without a week of setup
And to households who’ve been stuck between cold calls and forum threads: we hear you. We’re building a portal that respects your time, your data, and your choices.
